The Kilkenny Flood Relief scheme led to a series of major underwater excavations being undertaken at John’s Bridge and Green’s Bridge, Kilkenny. The John’s Bridge work was particularly spectacular, with the recovery of a suite of magnificent medieval graveslabs, inlcuding the monk seen below, being recovered. One of the key figures in all of this was Jimmy Lenihan, who is presenting a talk titledĀ ‘Working in underwater archaeology – a Kilkenny diver’s experiences’ on Friday 27th March @ 8pm in Rothe House. Admission 5 euro.
